Meh... Something's Not Right...

Be very careful with your styles; you've got a slow Jazzy ballad drum line, which is a great take on this song. And taking liberties with tempos is what makes Jazz... Jazz! However, some of your sync notes didn't feel right. Always try to mix what feels right and fluid, don't force it.

I also agree with the below statement; around 00:45 the octaves didn't work. It felt like you ran out of ideas :(

I encourage you to revisit this piece again. It's a creative idea, I just don't think it was executed properly.

Don't give up! Keep at it!

Neurotangent responds:

Yeah, the timing of notes is hard to match in the original, the time signature is rather odd in it. I was going by ear for this ><

Yes, I will be sure to revisit this some time, and fix the long, boring part at 0:45.

Ok, but there were some problems.

My suggestion would to be to adjust the levels. Your bass line and beat were kind of overpowering. There's a fine line of perfection in getting those "good for the ears."
Liked the "Geodude" call at the end. Very clever.
I just would've liked more from this...something new and fresh.
Points for doing a song that's not done often on here, though ^_^

Keep it up!

and i'll take your advice for anything i make next time =D

Can't Get Into This One

You kept it pretty basic.
I'm a little bias against this, and I apologize; what I look for when I browse the "Video Game" section is the familiar tune of one of my video game songs, but with something extra--or something that brings another perspective to the original. So I did not enjoy this piece much. The idea of mixing the two instruments at the end is a good start, but since they were just octaves of each other, the whole piece got pretty redundant.

Points for accuracy with the melody, but I'm just not into this. :(

poolplayermaster responds:

ouch your a pretty harsh reviewer but thats alright

you did gett he idea of it though i wanted to keep it basic while reworking that horrid acordian tone that went throughout the whole song and then put a new perspective on it usually you only hear them separate frome achother and then the fast angry music afer you play it but they harmonized together in htis one

Lovin' It

I really wasn't a fan of the original, but I kinda like this ^_^
The synth voices you chose really kept that "Sonic" feel, but they were cleaner and sharper than the ones in the game, which is always a nice touch. I also liked that you brought out a louder beat than the one in the game.

The mid section (1:50-2:08) was beautiful in it's simplicity, and I liked that you kept that element as a background to the rest of that section.

I'm impressed with this! Keep up the good work!

PaulyBFromDa303 responds:

Hey thanks a lot. This is exactly what I was going for, so I'm glad I accomplished what I set out to do.

Not Feelin It

It's interesting that you transposed it so low... I'm not sure it quite does the song justice. Also, I'm not to crazy about the instruments. They just sounded a little... forced... (I don't know if that's the right word)
You did get the melody pretty close though; points for that.
I'm sorry I can't give you a better score. :(

poolplayermaster responds:

:( i kinda liked it but its at such a low tone as opposed to the normal high pitched happy cheerful tone this is supposed to be more of a darker evil tone to it as i said like a contaminated or evil fairy fountain or even a ruined one

Hey Cool!

That definitely was an unexpected approach! I liked the opening guitar riff. It was kind of cool how that led in to all of it. The pause at 50 sec. might've been to long, but it wasn't painstakingly long. There were a couple notes that were off beat in an awkward way, but for the most part the free flow of the guitar was nice. It worked well, like an old classic rock riff.
I liked it a lot. I'll probably download this once I get back to my own computer ;)

Sometimes the Best Pieces Come in the Early Hours.

I thought the piano was very pretty. Once the synth came in, I was very intrigued by the piece. The only beef I have with the song really is the wavering voice that duets with the piano at the beginning; it sounded a little strange to me. But it fit in well with the rest of the piece, so I won't mark you down for that.
Good job ^_^

Thanks alot! :D

Very Imaginative!

I love that you take a song that is generally fast paced and start it out soft and slow, like a storm normally begins. I did notice a few wrong notes with your ocarina, but it kind of gives it a real feel to me, and didn't bother me TOO much. I love the way you edited the bass line of the song; it had such a different feel to it--almost a Lamentation.

And then it picked up very gently, and I loved that there was not a set tempo you stuck to. It just made the expereince so much better for me.

This was awesome.
(1 point down for the wrong notes--sorry!)

Tysuru responds:

and you ask why I'm self conscious about the ocarina haha

just kidding.
Thank you, I have a tendency for speeding while getting excited. As most people do. But it ended up fitting nicely haha.

thank you =]

Shades of Serenity

I've never actually played MM, but I did hear the sound clip when I played Twilight Princess.
This is gorgeous. You're too hard on yourself with the Ocarina comment. That's actually you playing? the only thing I think would've made this better is if you brought the Ocarina part out a little more.

But very nicely done.

Tysuru responds:

MM and OoT are my favorite by far.

and The ocarina is just a little outta place with this, therefore I hid it haha.
and thank you =]

really thank you
