OH MY LORD!!!

I loved this song.

And your remix absolutely blew my mind.
Thank you for this.
So Downloaded.

Instrument Blend:
I love that you kept it like the instruments from the actual song. It shouldn't be any other way.

Other Comments:
I feel like I have little words for this song; you guys both have incredible voices. I wonder did you have the sheet music, or did you gather this by ear? either way this is incredible. If I had to nitpick something, I'd say that sometimes your voices were off beat of each other--but at the same time, I feel that gives it a "live recording" feeling.

All in all, there's not enough ways to say this was beautiful.

ismiller responds:

Thanks!
This was all by ear too. The only thing we really had was the lyrics in front of us! So glad you enjoyed it!

0.o

the simplicity of the beginning was beautiful.
when it became percussive, it was a little overbearing.
you might wanna take the drums back a tad.

darphfluffy responds:

hey thanks for the review. I can see where your coming from. The older version has less powerful drums, and I felt that that was the problem. I love that slam feeling I get with the drums.

ooooh....spooky

I had fun pulling apart the different melodies from this one.
And I loved that you went there with the choice of instruments--the one for "The Great Deku Tree" was awesome.
I also thought that adding Kokiri Forest in a MAJOR key to the minor background was a fantastic choice; unexpected, and it really melted into Ganondorf's Theme fantastically.

Many props. ^_^

I liked this rock feel you've got going; it really worked--the only thing was that the strings sounded a little "hinky," like they were out of place.

Accuracy:
Notes=Correct

This was great; the rock versions on here always seem to have the potential to be really really awFUL:--and this was really really awSOME. Congrats

I don't know how else to phrase it: Great Song!

I see you kept to the orchastra, except for the synth pieces here and there; not necessarily the most original of thoughts, but it didn't sound bad.

It didn't have much personality to it, but it was still pretty good. The opening intro was different.

Other Comments:
I liked it, but I've heard a lot of remixes of this song like yours. It was very well done however, so don't be discouraged.

Majorgeneral responds:

Oh I'm not I like fan reviews and I care that people care, that's why I joined Newgrounds I wanted to know what people think of my work. yeah orchestrial is my main style but I like to mix it up but stay true to the original song. all in all thanks for your review, I hope to hear from you more

Instrument Blend:
The instruments sounded pretty good together; I wasn't a big fan of them, but they fit within each other and didn't sound awkward.

Accuracy:
Well this seems pretty much right on to me.

Originality:
I liked your changes to the beat; slowing it down was a nice touch. Right about 2:50ish--that was my favorite part.

Other Comments:
The volume was really loud with the distortion you chose; it almost hurt to listen to it, even with the volume turned WAY down. That "Crunchy" sound your going for is hard to master, and it really made a negative impression on me throughout the song. That being said it was actually pretty good, but I can't get into it.

NintendoInsSysmexico responds:

sorry to tell you that this song vvas made on a secuencer, but the idea vvas taken from the original 8-beat nes song, i used my guitar to get the notes and pass it to the secuencer, i did this vvhen i vvas 22 so right novv im making the songs again, once i finish the song, i'll going to upload the song again so you can pass and make the revievv

Instrument Blend:
Interesting choice with the piano and synth; it worked but wasn't necessarily exciting.

Accuracy:
The melody was right on.

Originality:
The change in beat with the echo definitely added something new to the piece. And I was not expecting the drums that came in around 0:44min. That was a nice little surprise.

Other Comments:
This was supposed to be a slow mix, and that's what it was; but I'm not really feeling in from that. This piece--to me--was always meant to be fast with a sense of energy. So therefore your piece is well done, just not what I am looking for.
I have no doubt that others will love this, so don't get discouraged.

This Just Wasn't For Me

Instrument Blend:
The piano was...eh... just a little to synthesized for me; there are ways to mask it. And the Organ sound in the back was very fitting with the actual game song, but it stood out way too much in this remix. The background should always be the subtle harmony that adds to the song, not distracts you from it.

Accuracy:
I heard a couple of strange notes, but I'm not sure if that was intentional; basically it wasn't BLARINGLY obvious or anything so I won't mark you down.

Originality:
This piece is simple; you can barely here it over the sound of your acceleration in the game. I would've enjoyed this more if there was something flabergasting about it.... it was just a redo.

Other Comments:
Don't get me wrong! I know how much effort goes into making a MIDI piece. I'm just out there looking for something that is new and fresh, and I just didn't get it from this. Technologically this is a well structured piece--but that's just it; music is about power, emotions, that feeling you get jumping off the edge, the first kiss, etc. This just felt like a math equation: Note + Note = Song
I have faith that you'll produce something to awe me.

Pizzaroma responds:

The main piano wasn't meant to sound completely realistic, I used chorus to change it, it actually sounded quite realistic before. What organ? That's a piano, but I do agree a bit. It could be the volume that you listen to, or how you do, so the mixing may sound a bit different.

Also, it wasn't supposed to be meant for gameplay, just listening. It wasn't supposed to be some dance remix style thing or anything, just simply, a "remix." Please try not to set your expectations up like that.

Thanks for your review though, I understand that not every song speaks out to everyone. When listening to this with higher volume I noticed, the song sounds better (and you can hear the reverb better). It actually makes quite the difference. Try listening to it at a higher volume, or not with a preconceived notion of how the song should be. Then maybe PM me on if it sounds better...

I'm not sure how you don't see the emotion in this though? Do you see any emotion in upbeat jazz songs, or other styles of music, or does music have to make your hairs stand up to be able to get a better rating than 5... or is that just how you rate. The scales that people go off on newgrounds are whacked and inconsistent. VERY inconsistent.

Overall thanks for the review though, I do know of some things to fix (although I don't plan on changing the piano -- I purposely made it sound like that because I enjoy the song with that feel it gives it.)

You kept to synth instruments and I appreciate that. I'm a fan of blending myself, but when it's a bad blend it's just terrible. These instruments worked together. Good Job.

Accuracy:
Nothing seemed out of place; it was a song without flaws.

Originality:
I liked that you cut the notes short at the beginning. I kinda like it pizzicato. I would've like a little more of you out of this, but I'm really picky about that so don't take it personally.

Other Comments:
This is random, but the beginning had a very "Goldeneye" feel to it. Just saying ;)
I didn't realize it was looping until I checked! Good work!

iPixzel responds:

Whoa, nice review.

:)

Fantastic...but now I have ringing in my ears

Ok; the first thing I noticed was the volume was way too loud.

Instrument Blend:
The instruments together were great; it was like a real hard rock band would use.

Accuracy:
That was a pretty damn accurate rendition; the only changes made sense in the song, and were obviously not mistakes; they were creative tweaks ;)

Originality:
There area A LOT of rock remixes of songs on this site; this one really felt like a rock remix. The instuments chosen were perfect, and the subtle changes put feeling into it. Bravo.

Other Comments:
My only beef really is that volume thing; lower it so our ears aren't blown and you've got a seriously amazing song here.

metallistad responds:

*shakes head* yeah, that doesn't suprise me. I just threw it together on the fly. I should've checked it more. Oh well. I'll probably lower the sound when I start putting in the Zelda audio in it. I'm still thinking about doing that.

For the Love of All Things VG Music; If you have a request, PM me! I'll check it out and get back to you! Thanks for all your support! <3
