Pretty Sweet

Here's my score:

Instrument Blend:
You kept your instruments in the techno realm; nothing odd and no levels all that messed up (you might consider mixing the volume of the melody down just a tad though.)

Accuracy:
Great Job with the melody; kept it switched up but never fucked up ;)

Originality:
The pulsating melody was a nice touch. The piano at the end was a bold move (btw, that instrument might have needed a little mixing to get rid of the "synthesized" feel.) Not a lot on this site quite like this piece.

Other Comments:
Great remix. It's the kind of techno rendition we've all grown accustomed to in this Audio Portal.

darphfluffy responds:

Wow. Thanks. Thats the first good review anyones left on a song in ages. Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you like it.

Instrument Blend:
The bass wasn't defined enough. I'm not sure if that could've been fixed with a change of instrument, but the instrument choice certainly didn't help.

Accuracy:
I think you got the melody; I'm just not sure about the bass line is all.

Clear Concept:
This was pretty clear cut rainbow road rock remix.

Originality:
I'm still not getting a sense of the artist through this piece. It's just a switch to "rock," not really anything I haven't heard before.

Other Comments:
I know it's especially hard with songs we love so much--we just don't want to mess around with the melody because it's already so good! But changing the melody isn't the only way to put yourself in a piece of music. Change in beat, moderation of volume, tempos... these are all tools in which to create something Mind Boggling. I'm sorry, but I just didn't get that from this one.

Tres Magnifique

Instrument Blend:
I loved that you kept the piano for the background harmony and rocked out the melody. It sounded great together.

Accuracy:
Melody Captured. Period.

Clear Concept:
Very well thought out. Not a point in the song where I wondered where you were going with this.

Originality:
When the piano started, I thought "not another copy rendition." And then my jaw dropped. This almost had a "Gackt" feeling to it, and it was very different from any of the other mixed versions of this song.

Other Comments:
This song is really easy to mix softly and really hard to mix with an edge; your rendition deserves tremendous amounts of respect for not taking it overboard, but not leaving the listener with a feeling of deja vu.

Getting Better!

Instrument Blend:
The instruments fit with each other--I'm not entirely sure whether I would've picked the same instruments, but to each his own.

Accuracy:
The beats are aligned, the notes are correct; I'd say it was pretty accurate ^_^

Clear Concept:
The song felt finished; it was repetitive, but hey--so is the original.

Originality:
Points for transposing it to a higher octave (I don't know if you did that on purpose, but it gave it a new feel.) However, beyond that there wasn't much new or interesting about the piece.

Other Comments:
I enjoyed it, but I'd like to see something crazy and out there from you next time ;)

Lolz ParagonX10 then?

Instrument Blend:
The instruments you chose made sense together; nothing sounded out of place.

Originality:
Lolz you've got a ParagonX9 feel I suppose. This does have your own essence to it, but I would've loved for the melody to go a little more out. After a while, it got a little dull.

Clear Concept:
The song did have direction, but the melody felt a little screwy to me. I don't know, that may just be my own opinion.

Other Comments:
This is actually really good. I'm a tough judge, but I gotta say, this is a great start for a "n00b" ^_^

Pretty Good ^_^

***I've never heard this song, so even though it's a remix, I'm gonna judge it like I judge originals***

Instrument Blend:
All the "instruments" you used for this worked well with each other. There wasn't a point in the song where I thought "Wow, that really shouldn'tve been there." So good job with the blend ^_^

Originality:
It was fresh; a lot of remixes on this site are like this in the "Drum N Bass" section, so I've heard a few that sound sort of like this. But still it had it's own feel to it.

Clear Concept:
It was a completed song. Sometimes I hear things in other's pieces that remind me of writer's block--don't exactly know where your going anymore kind of feel, you know? This one didn't have any of that ^_^

Other Comments:
It's hard for me to judge a remix of a song I haven't heard before. But the piece you did was pretty good, so I'll just say that ^_^

WipeoutEffect responds:

Ha, thanks...-gets lost halfway through reading your review- o.o; I guess? e.e; lol anyway, thanks for the review, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside... heh. anyway, I'm rambling on... Thanks again for reviewing.

Instrument Blend:
The guitars with the background made it fuzzy and hard to hear. I would've made a different choice myself.

Accuracy:
You've got the melody down ^_^ of course who doesn't know this melody?!

Clear Concept:
Mario Rock. I get it.

Originality:
The piece had it's own feel and everything, but there was room for more personality.

Other Comments:
I know I come off as a hard judge, and that's because I am. I did like the beginning of the piece a lot. If I had a suggestion, it would be to make the melody an octave higher; sometimes the melody got lost in the background.

ok, but...

Instrument Blend:
The beats were off from the melody by just barely a second or so, and I don't know if that was what you were going for or not, but it gave me a headache.

Accuracy:
I will give this to you; you pretty much got the melody down.

Clear Concept:
I could get where you were going with this piece; kind of a "Dance Mix."

Originality:
You didn't stray much from the original piece, save for the instrument choice.

Other Comments:
I just really couldn't get into this piece. The timing being off was distracting and there wasn't much that was unexpected or thrilling. Sorry, not my style.

That's Pretty ^_^

Here's My Score:

Instrument Blend- 1/1

Instrument Blend:
I loved the beginning instrument. I have no idea what it is, but it's perfect. And the strings were incredible; there was no trace of synthesized sound. It was very realistic. The only thing was that the ending was snipped all of the sudden.

Originality:
This is a beautiful piece. The notes and the harmonies work well together. And I found myself listening to it on repeat several times before I wrote this. It's really just breathtaking.

Clear Concept:
The song had fluidity; there was the beginning, soft and gentle, that slowly moved into strings that were not too loud, but had a sense of urgency behind them. Most artist make their songs louder if they want more power. You actually gave your song REAL power, just through chord progressions alone.

Other Comments:
There's just not much more to say. This piece is just amazing.

It's Ok

Instrument Balance:
Sometimes the levels were a little weird, and there were points of the song where I thought they might even be slightly off beat. But the instruments weren't odd choices or anything. So a few points on that.

Accuracy:
The melody was straightforward, and clearly the Song of Storms.

Clear Concept:
The middle guitar part is the only thing I'm taking points off for this one (1:03 - 1:20). It felt like random notes used as filler, and notes should always have a purpose.

Originality:
The remix had it's quirks that makes it different from the other remixes out there, but there wasn't a lot of "wow" factor in the song. I would've loved something just outrageous for this song, because it's about power; it's about a storm. Maybe a stronger beat? I leave that up to you though.

Other Comments:
Well structured, but I couldn't get into it.
